First and foremost I oppose the Town of Oak Island or any municipality using involuntary annexations.

I have also attached my analysis of the Financial Feasilibity Evaluation.

What else should we include in our overall tax calculation to justify the Town's 12.5% property tax, 65% fire fee, and 20.5% water and wastewater rate increases? County property taxes, State income taxes, Federal income taxes? It is what it is, and it is a 14% overall Town budget revenue increase over last years approved budget.

Of course, the Town of Oak Island ownership and subsidized operation of the Yaupon Pier will harm the privately owned and taxpaying Ocean Crest Pier.

I enjoy a challenge so here is my analysis of the Water and Wastewater System revenue proposal that I believe shows that the existing water and wastewater system revenue will be paying for the new wastewater system expenses in FY2011. Revised 6/7/08.

The Town of Oak Island FY2008-2009 proposed budget includes a 16.4% increase in revenue from taxes on Oak Island property owners over the estimated property revenue from the Council approved FY2007-2008 budget. The overall proposed budget of $18.4 million is a 17.5% increase over the latest estimate for actual FY2007-2008 budget expenditures.
